Men in Black Cake Pops

Men in Black Cake Pops

In honor of the Men in Black 3 movie opening this week, this post is all about creative cake pop ideas for Men in Black cake pops! Sci-fi geeks rejoice!Way more fun than Men in Black cakes or cookies, these cake pops can be made using your favorite cake pop recipe, chocolate, fondant and a little bit of frosting, so they’re easy to make but an awesome party idea. (Or a totally sweet just-for-fun dessert because Men in Black rules!)

Hooray!

So to start off, make your cake pops as you normally would using your favorite cake recipe. (For those who are cake pop newbies, check out my Easter Lamb Cake Pops post for step by step instructions on  how to make cake pops! ) When dipping your cake pops, choose the color chocolate that is most prominent in the character, then the rest of the details can be made in fondant. For example, if you’re making an Agent K cake pop  (that’s Tommy Lee Jones), dip the cake pop in peach chocolate.

Note: you don’t need to go mental in buying a bazillion different color chocolate wafers for your cake pops – you can mix them to make new colors! So for the peach characters, use mostly white chocolate wafters, a few pink, and a couple of yellow. Melt the colors and mix together! If the color of the chocolate is too dark or too light, simply add more of one color and melt again.

The details on these Men in Black cake pops are made in fondant, much like how I did The Avengers Cake Pops. Fondant details like hair, noses, and crazy alien features can be attached to the chocolate cake pop with a little bit of frosting. You can also choose to cover the whole cake pop in fondant if you’re having trouble matching the fondant detail to the color of the chocolate on the cake pop.

For example, here’s how I made one of the fishy looking aliens of Men in Black 3:

Here I have added the primary details and covered the cake pop in fondant. Toothpicks are great for achieving texture!

Next, I added some of the more detailed elements of the cake pop.

The final step is adding the eyes and outlines in black. I like black piping gel for this but be warned – it smudges!

And there you have it! Making the other Men in Black cake pops is just as easy! If you have questions on any in particular, however, be sure to post in the comments and I’ll be happy to explain!

Here are the final Men in Black cake pops:
